Trim and Talk

Barbers are in an unrivalled position in men’s culture. Most men visit a barber regularly and often develop strong friendships where they feel comfortable to talk openly about their lives. The barbershop is a place where men go to receive regular care and attention, and to feel renewed and refreshed. The barber’s chair is a unique experience for men where reflection and conversation meet.

The 12th Man Barbershop is an award-winning project that began in 2017. We provide Mental Health First Aid training to barbers in their shops after hours, allowing them to develop their interpersonal skills and explore their key role within communities. 12th Man Barbers and Barbershops use the training every day in their work through interactions with clients, and help create a positive mental health culture in their community.
